**updated Sept. 7, 2021
Our retreat guests’ safety and security is our top priority and takes precedence over our profits. We chose to postpone all retreats between Feb 2020 and June 2021 for the safety of our host communities and our home communities. While we have begun to operate again, we will continue to be in constant contact with our 2021 and 2022 retreat guests about potential impacts to travel and best practices for traveling during COVID.
On all 2021 and 2022 retreats until the COVID crisis is fully contained globally we will operate under the following procedures*:
No, there is no "good" at yoga anyway! Yoga is a personal practice. All yoga classes (and all activities) on the retreat are completely optional. You may participate in as much, or as little as you'd like. All yoga classes and meditation practices will be accessible for beginners, or those "out of practice" - especially our slower evening classes. Our morning flow classes will be beginner-friendly, but also offer up challenges for more advanced practitioners. All that's required to participate in yoga classes on our retreats is an open mind and a willingness to show up.
Everyone! On previous Above Yoga retreats, we have had guests ranging from 22 - 72 years of age. Often we have lots of solo travelers as well as friends, family member and partners who choose to travel together. All are welcome and will be embraced in the inclusive environment of these retreats. We are proud to be an LGBTQ+ friendly business and an ally to all. Please note: In order to maintain a peaceful, safe and responsible group environment, Above Yoga retreats are adults-only. All guests must be 21 or older by the travel dates. However we will consider guests between the ages of 18 and 21 on a case-by-case basis, but only if they are traveling with a parent or other close relative.
A month prior to the retreat, you will be sent a full itinerary and recommended packing list; but mostly comfortable clothes, some good books and a journal to jot down life-changing thoughts! In most cases the on-site yoga studio is fully stocked with mats and props, but feel free to bring your own mat or mat towel if you prefer.
Yes! If you signed up for an international retreat and you don't already have a passport, please apply at least 4-6 months prior to our trip. Visit the travel.state.gov website to get started. If you already have one, please make sure the expiration date is more than 6 months after our return date. Passport processing times are extended due to COVID. If you are a U.S. citizen, you will not need a visa for destinations in Morocco, Europe and Central America, but you will for most retreats to Asia. Above Yoga will provide more instructions for getting a visa if needed. If you are not U.S. citizen, your requirements may be different and we are happy to assist you in the visa process.
Above Yoga is more than happy to assist with finding proper flights. If you choose to travel on different dates than the group, you are responsible for your own transportation to the retreat center. You can choose to fly home when the retreat concludes; or choose to explore more on your own. However, those staying beyond the retreat dates are responsible for their own ground transportation arrangements to return home.
You have the option to pay in full during check out while booking. If you choose a payment plan, your first payment (or deposit) is taken immediately upon booking. Your remaining cost will be divided into equally monthly payments until you are paid in full. This is usually in a 6 month cycle unless your retreat occurs in less than 6 months, in which case it will be only 3 months. You will be charged on the credit card you initially used to book. You can change this anytime in your customer portal.
We are extremely lucky to have many guests return to Above Yoga retreats year after year. We offer up discounts as a thank you for that loyalty.
