Morocco·October 5 - 11 2025
Immerse yourself in the breathtaking vistas of North Africa with a curated mix of cultural + culinary excursions.
We’ll be staying on a private estate curated for rest, relaxation, exotic meals and exploration of the grounds, but just close enough to the city of Marrakech to have everything in town at our fingertips: shopping in the souks, venturing through the medina, camel treks in the desert and other cultural experiences that can only be had in Morocco. Whether you're hiking in the Atlas Mountains or learning how to cook using Moroccan techniques and spices - you'll have plenty of time to soak up the life-changing experience that an authentic trip to this beautiful north African country offers. - Group Size: 14-16 guests - Luxury Score: 4.5 (out of 5) - Activity Score: 3.5 (out of 5) - Active + Walking Tours - Cuisine: Omnivore (Meat Offered) - Pricing: $3450 per person (triple occupancy) / $3650 per person (double occupancy)
Meander through Marrkaech’s medinas and souks on a guided tour of the world famous markets that dreams are made of! From famous carpets to handprinted pottery to almost anything you can dream up - there's something for everyone.
Visit local landmarks and garden hideaways such as Dar Al Bacha - a intricately tiled labyrinth of a palace. We'll have local guides who are experts on the museums and other points of interest we'll see.
Retreat into exotic luxury into an oasis in the vast and breathtaking desert landscape of Morocco. This beautiful property is about 20 minutes outside of the hectic city center and is nestled in an olive grove. A perfect respite to return to after a day filled with cultural adventures.
Spend an afternoon off-site exploring the slower pace in the Atlas Mountains and enjoy a 45 minute hike near the foot of the tallest peak in North Africa. Enjoy a local lunch with picturesque views at the summit!
We will head out to a picturesque desert oasis camp about an hour outside of town for an afternoon that will include a guided camel trek and luxury tented lunch set up. A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience!
The entire property (reserved exclusively for Above Yoga guests) is dripping with eclectic Moroccan style and textiles. One of the owners is a designer and it shows throughout the luxury villa. You will never stay somewhere else this unique again!
The cuisine will reflect Middle Eastern, African, Mediterranean influences and combines spices and herbs - a great mix of modern and traditional Moroccan styles. Think couscous, lamb meatballs, falafel and veggie tagines.
Enjoy 1-2 yoga classes daily as well as mindfulness workshops like guided journaling or meditation. We have a fully equipped yoga shala on site tucked away in the gardens.
One day we'll enjoy a Moroccan style cooking class where we will learn all about Moroccan herbs, spices -- including creating their famous dish "tajine / tagine" and get to taste all the items that we make for an elaborate lunch in a garden setting.
Each Above Yoga retreat has an on-site leader(s) and certified yoga teachers who will be present to facilitate the retreat. We find that an opportunity to participate in a variety of classes with various teaching styles adds to our guests’ overall retreat experience. Leaders or teachers are subject to change without notice.

Sonia's passion for anatomy and physiology led her through a few careers working with the body, including being a licensed massage therapist for 10 years. It was a natural progression for Sonia to find and fall in love with yoga. She currently lives in Oneonta, NY where she founded the town's first yoga studio - TRIBE YOGA. It later became Yoga People Oneonta, where Sonia still teaches classes and workshops when she's not traveling.
Vanessa is a certified yoga instructor based out of Janesville, WI. She is also a practicing massage therapist and reiki master. Vanessa found healing through yoga after breaking her hip in 2019. She believes that the practice of yoga is much deeper than the physical postures (asana). Yoga heals, empowers and transforms lives. Her intention is to encourage her students to listen to their own bodies and tap into their own wisdom.
Valerie is based out of Oregon and teaches private yoga clients there, after a stint in Charlotte, NC where she taught at NoDa Yoga. She specializes in yin yoga (long, slow holds that get deep into the connective tissues), but will also be teaching restorative and gentle yoga on retreat. She has also been a co-teacher on our South of France and Kenya retreats and a guest on our Cambodia retreat.

Maybe places like Morocco have always been on your “must-see” list but you aren’t sure where to start for planning a trip there? You could scour Instagram for inspiration, read countless blogs about what to do and how to dress while you’re there, spend hours scrolling through TripAdvisor reviews on hotels - or you could skip all that and have it all planned for you. That’s where we come in! When you join any of our retreats you’ll immediately receive a FAQ email with suggestions for flights, airports and add-on trips, as well as be added to our private dedicated Facebook group with your fellow travelers where updates and additional information will be added often. We'll also host a pre-retreat Zoom about 6-8 months before the trip. Then a month before our adventure, you’ll receive a detailed itinerary, a suggested packing list and full information about how you’ll be picked up from the airport. Let someone else handle all the planning and logistics for you!
Given the Muslim conservative religion and culture, proper attire is key while in Morocco. While in town, plan to cover legs, shoulders and chest (esp. women) with loose clothing to avoid unwanted attention and show respect. Light scarves are great for extra modesty. While at the retreat center, ANY type of attire is fine. Also note that many local restaurants do not serve alcohol. There will be an option to have a drink a few nights at the retreat center, but if alcohol is central to your fun on vacations, this is not the retreat for you.
Average temperatures for this time of year will be in the low 80s as highs and in the 60s at night. There should be little to no rain, and plenty of sunshine if you want to lounge by the pool or take a dip! Keep in mind you will need to dress modestly while in town, so thin, loose layers are great for Morocco - even if it's warm and sunny out!
The Morocco trip not only exceeded my expectations but my wildest dreams too. First off, I’m kind of an extreme planner and not one to just wing it on a trip, but don’t have the time to plan this kind of trip on my own. Anna took all the stress out of it. The itinerary she curated for us was perfection and I really felt like I could just show up and let her lead the way (which never happens in my real life). For the excursions, she truly found the best, most magical version of every core experience for Marrakesh - lunch nestled in Atlas Mountains and camel riding in the desert we’re both true highlights/once in a lifetime for me. We’re not really yogis, but enjoyed morning yoga a few times and it was a great way to start our day. This trip was amazing and I can’t wait to experience another new place with Above Yoga.

This was my first trip across the Atlantic and Anna could not have made it easier! She provided just the right amount of information leading up to the trip so that I knew how best to prepare. Upon arrival, even after delayed flights, Anna made sure that we had a smooth arrival to the resort and that someone would be there to greet us even at our late arrival. The resort was incredible. From the location to the food to the staff, everything exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spectacular and Anna made sure to add a personal touch for each guest. I had long dreamed of visiting Morocco, but I had no idea how to begin planning such a trip. Anna's itinerary included all of the things you'd want to see as a tourist, but it also included a few excursions that I would have never been able to find on my own, like the cooking class! Overall, the trip was an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am so grateful to have had Anna guide us through it all.

I can’t tell you how amazing it was for a week away where I didn’t have to think, do anything for anyone else, and could just show up and be. You took the time to so carefully choose everything for the full Marrakech picture that I left confident I got the best experience possible. Plus, the yoga really helped me take time to think about myself and my needs that I haven’t been granting myself at home over the last couple weeks. It was some healing I didn’t know I needed. The retreat center was PERFECT, gorgeous, with delicious food and the safest driver I've ever had internationally.
Rebecca, Milwaukee, WI (2023 Marrakech Retreat)
All of the communication before, during, and after the retreat was amazing - you were never left wondering what was going on. Everything was planned perfectly, the retreat property was amazing, and the food was divine. It really was a life changing experience, and I think a lot of that was due to the planned activities and the structure of the retreat. Marrakech and the surrounding areas are a must see, but Above Yoga made it a bucket list destination.

This trip to Marrakech was a once-in-a-lifetime experience full of so many amazing cultural experiences, including time exploring the markets, architecture, camels, cooking, hiking, and more! This is a trip I would hesitate to make on my own, but from pre-retreat packing lists to arranged transportation/meals/excursions, I felt comfortable every step of the way! Our retreat center was the most beautiful and zen little secret garden, providing amble space to rest and recharge after busy days. I cannot wait for my next Above Yoga retreat!
Laura, Durham, NC (2023 Marrakech Retreat)
What a wonderful way to explore a country! Honestly a great balance between yoga, which is what we all came for, and exploring the local towns and culture. The included transportation made exploring easy and inexpensive. The meals were nourishing and diverse. I felt very safe the entire trip, excursions and all. Also, as an introvert, I felt I had plenty of moments of free time where I could choose to go on a walk, hang at the pool, or relax on the rooftop to decompress. Overall such a pleasant experience! I look forward to my next retreat!

Choosing to go on retreat in Morocco with Anna from Above Yoga was one of the best decisions I have every made. Everything from transportation to meals to excursions were well planned. All I had to do was show up! No decision-making needed. Her unique destinations also adds to the fun! Can't wait to join her again!
